Bob was born in Long Beach, California, on July 10, 1943. He attended Long Beach Poly High School, where he graduated in 1960, and the University of California at Santa Barbara, majoring in political science and graduating in 1964.

Law School education began at USC, where he received his J.D. in 1968. He was admitted to the California State Bar that year. His law school education continued at New York University School of Law where he received an L.L.M. in Taxation in 1969.

Bob returned to Long Beach and entered practice with his father, Preston W. Johnson, in 1969. Bob and Preston practiced together for nearly 25 years. On Preston’s retirement, Bob joined Madden, Jones & Cole in 1993. He practices in the area of estate planning and trust administration as well as business transactions and business entities.
