Mr. Madden was born in Long Beach, California, on July 22, 1937. He graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1955, and the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in history and graduating in 1959.

He attended law school at the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall), graduating in 1962 with LLB degree. He was admitted to the California State Bar in January 1963.

Mr. Madden's initial legal employment was with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office from 1963 — 1965 as a Deputy District Attorney. In 1965, he joined the Long Beach City Attorney's Office where he remained as a Deputy City Attorney until 1967. In 1967, he began his career in private practice with the law firm, Wise, Kilpatrick & Clayton, where he has continued his practice through various law firm name changes. He is currently a partner with Madden, Jones, Cole & Johnson and practices in the areas of business, estate planning, trust administration and real estate. He has been rated AV by Martin Hubbell for over 30 years.

Mr. Madden is a member of the State Bar of California, the Long Beach Bar Association(President, 1988), and The Los Angeles County Bar Association.
